The following links are a compilation of websites of institutions and entities concerned with the conservation and promotion of gardens. In many cases, botanic gardens also act as institutions or entities dedicated to the promotion and conservation of gardens, but they have not been included in this section to avoid duplication of information.
On the other hand, it should also be remembered that only those entities with an active website have been included, so this criterion necessarily excludes other entities that work in this field but cannot be consulted on a website.
Catalonia
Association which safeguards the green zones in the country. Their main task is researching, studying and disseminating information on this subject.
Association aims to promote and coordinate activities that increase the value given to green zones in urban environments. The aim is to raise people's awareness and generate public opinion. The website offers the most up-to-date information on these issues.
Institution dedicated to artistic and creative expression, which has a particular interest in the city. The CCCB has a Documentation Centre containing a documentary archive on European Public Spaces with records and images of public projects and spaces.
Department of Culture and Media service of the Generalitat of Catalonia, responsible for studying and evaluating the architectural heritage in Catalonia (including historic gardens), and defining and coordinating the programmes for protecting this heritage.
Barcelona City Council's department that looks after the natural heritage of the city. The department takes a global approach which ranges from planning to maintaining our natural heritage.
Europe
Intergovernmental organization that works in the field of plant health and protection. Currently has 48 member states from Europe and the Mediterranean. The site provides a lot of useful information such as European-orientated advice on topics such as pesticides and pests.
Association of European landscape architects. The website has numerous sections devoted to both professional matters and the latest news in the sector.
Website of the Office of Public Works and the Department of Environment, Heritage and Local Government (DOEHLG) which manages the historic gardens of Ireland.
NGO founded in Greece in 1994 with the aim of providing a platform for people interested in Mediterranean-climate plants and gardens. The site features a wealth of information and there is a special section of links to different gardens and botanical gardens in countries with a Mediterranean climate.
France
Association with over 130 parks and gardens associated, privates and publics, which aims to protect, enhance and promote parks and gardens of the Centre Region.
Federation of associations dedicated to parks and gardens and to studying and protecting the landscape. The site has a very comprehensive inventory of all kinds of parks and gardens in France.
Institution which aims to study, protect and disseminate information on French gardens and landscapes, which was set up thanks to the official support of the Ministry of Culture and the General Council of Loir-et-Cher.
Italy
Association dedicated to the study, protection and dissemination of information on camellias in Italy.
Association which was one of the first to promote plant appreciation, garden art and spontaneous plant landscapes in Italy. The website contains extensive information on its current activities, such as conferences and exhibitions.
Website of the Grandi Giardini Italiani association listing the best Italian gardens with a file record, photos and links between all of them. It is also an information centre for all the activities carried out in the historic gardens of Italy.
Organization which is mainly educational. The website contains interesting news sections, a forum and a section for downloading articles.
Netherlands
Website of the foundation charged with managing the Netherlands' national taxonomic collection of live plants. Its members include various Dutch botanic gardens which compose the wide-ranging and scientifically and culturally important taxonomic collection of the Netherlands.
United Kingdom
Trust that aims to protect, conserve, promote, restore and rehabilitate the historic gardens of the United Kingdom and develop educational and recreational activities for society in these spaces. The site includes various resources, notably a section on links and publications.
Government agency which has the function of preserving the historic British landscape. Collaborates closely with the Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs of the U.K. government and the Countryside Agency in matters related with landscape.

Association of botanical gardens of the world created in 1987 with the aim of collaborating in improving the conservation of the world's plants. The website has links to hundreds of botanical gardens around the world.
UNESCO website, containing all the gardens, historic parks and cultural landscapes that are regarded as World Heritage sites.
Organization created by the Royal New Zealand Institute of Horticulture to protect the more than 130 gardens that make up the heritage of this country. The site has a search engine for the most emblematic gardens and also has other resources for learning about them in greater detail.
NGO dedicated to creating public spaces. The site contains information on the projects and activities currently being undertaken and the section on parks is particularly good, as you can consult a global database.
NGO which was created in 1995 to promote the conservation, restoration and management of historic parks and gardens around the world. It also runs an interesting educational programme and organizes a biennial congress. The site features numerous resources on this subject, including a newsletter entitled Gardens Review and a section with links to various gardens.

Sri Lanka
Website of the Department of National Botanic Gardens, which falls under the Sri Lankan Ministry for Promoting Botanic and Zoological Gardens. Its aim is to promote study and enjoyment of the gardens' natural and artificial settings and to conserve these resources.
United States
Not-for-profit organization that brings together professionals, volunteers and other people working with urban and rural green zones. Its aim is to promote quality and sustainability of the environment and cultural landscaping to guarantee the quality of life of American society.
Website of the North American association of botanical gardens, public gardens and Arboreta. The organization aims to support the different activities in this field and on the website you can find information on botanical and public gardens in general as well as publications and a section of links.

Association created to group together students and professionals of landscape architecture and gardening. It explains the functions and professional opportunities of landscape specialists and offers a list of most of the university programmes on landscape architecture that can be followed in the Spanish state and in Europe.
Association which promotes the knowledge and social benefit of parks, gardens and the landscape. The association organizes congresses, supports research, and fosters relations between the different state and international associations.
Association which was founded in 1985 by several Spanish and Portuguese institutions involved in the world of botanical gardens. The site includes news on this topic, provides information on related activities, and includes a section of links to the different botanical gardens that make up the association.
