International Seminar. Landscape and education
The European Landscape Convention places considerable emphasis on all that related to training and education on landscape, even though, to date, the signatories have given priority to other measures and actions. It would seem, however, that the outlook is beginning to change and this is why we now have the opportunity and advantage of this international seminar. The recent report Education on Landscape for Children from the Council of Europe has been complemented by a series of interesting initiatives along this line originating from different European countries, including Catalonia. Effectively, during the first months of 2009 the implementation of the ambitious educational project City, territory, landscape, aimed at secondary educational centres throughout Catalonia, offers an extraordinary opportunity to present this, and other similar experiences being developed all over Europe whether in the area of formal or non-formal education. The time has come to increase citizen awareness of the landscape in the surest and most promising way in the long term: education.
